The Ducati 996SPS was Ducati's range topping superbike from 1998 - 2000. SPS stands for 'Sport Production Special' and this designation, along with the white tail section, marks the variant out from the standard Ducati 996.The 996SPS replaced the 916SPS, which incidentally also used a 996 cc, in 1998. The new bike had a higher spec engine over the standard 996 with an extra 10 - 12 bhp available. Power delivery on the 996SPS is more peaky, making the bike more suited to track riding.The 996SPS uses lighter 5 spoke Marchesini wheels as opposed to the 996's three spoke units.An adjustable steering head allows for geometry changes to suit the rider or track.Over the two years of production modifications and
